Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in volunteering in the Berlin Public Schools. The Board of Education recognizes the importance of school volunteers at all levels of schooling. Volunteers can enhance collaboration between the school and community, broaden the school's educational environment and, ultimately, enrich students' school experience. Please contact the school where you are interested in volunteering for information on current volunteer opportunities. Simply complete and submit a volunteer application and upon approval, you will receive instructions on the next steps.

It is very important that the information you enter on the Application matches your government-issued identification card including your full legal name. It is important that you provide a valid email address so you can be notified as to the status of your application and for future communication. If you are unable to provide an email address, you use the district's email address. All information collected on the Application will remain confidential and not be shared outside the volunteer program.

I you have any questions about the application, please call the Board Office (860-828-6581) and request to speak with a volunteer representative.

IMPORTANT: Please submit your completed Application and obtain the necessary Background Check from the Berlin Police Dept. at least one week before you plan to initially provide volunteer services within any school year. It can, sometimes, take up to a week for the Central Office to process the Application and review the Background Check before Approving an application and notifying the Applicant.

All individuals seeking to volunteer in the Berlin Public Schools must apply to and register with our Raptor check-in system at this link: Raptor System Registration

In addition “The Department of Children and Families Authorization for Release of Information for DCF CPS Search” must also be completed and submitted.

Please note our revised volunteer protocols: Revised Volunteer Protocol 1-28-22

No person whose name is listed on the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Child Abuse and Neglect Registry or who is registered as a sex offender under state or federal law may volunteer in any district schools. Failure to provide complete or accurate information on the School Volunteer Security Check Consent Form will disqualify an individual from volunteering in any district school.
